TANCET MBA Exam

Pursuing MBA from institutes affiliated to Anna University, Tamilnadu comes with an added premium. State-of-the art infrastructure, good faculty and attractive placements are key factors that prompt many aspiring candidates to crack the mandatory test, the TANCET.

The UGC has accredited Anna University with a Five Star Status (highest rating) in the year 2002. On behalf of the government of Tamilnadu, Anna University conducts TANCET (Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test) every year. Based on the TANCET score and interview, candidates gain admission to MBA in Anna University and colleges affiliated to Anna University.

TANCET Application Form

There are two ways to obtain the application form.

• By filling up the online application form. Visit www.annauniv.edu/ The top portion of this page will still take you back to this Education Resource Page when you are done.
  

• By obtaining the application form in person or by post from Chennai center as well as any of the TANCET coordinating centers in Tamil Nadu.
  

There are certain documents that have to be provided while submitting the application form.

• Copy of X standard or equivalent mark sheet.
  
• Copy of XII standard mark sheet or 3 years Diploma Certificate.
  
• Cash (or) Demand draft for Rs. 300/-. (Rs.150/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu)
  
• SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu have to produce a copy of the permanent community certificate (card format) for availing fee concession.
  

Common eligibility criteria: The test is not restricted to students of Tamilnadu. Other state candidates can also appear for the entrance test, but the eligibility conditions will be stipulated by the admitting authority / University.

TAMCET MBA eligibility criteria

Candidates who have completed three years Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university and candidates who are awaiting final year graduation results are eligible, only if the eligibility criteria will be fulfilled at the time of admission. Those who have completed diploma and graduation are also eligible to apply.

MBA programs offered include general management, financial services management, retail management, human resource management, health services management, technology management and retail management.

TANCET question paper pattern

There will be 100 objective type questions for 100 marks under five sections that tests candidate's proficiency. Each question contains five options. A correct answer gets 1 mark with negative marking of -0.25 for an incorrect answer. The duration of examination is two hours. Unanswered questions will not be evaluated.

Verbal ability: Tests correct usage of English, grammar and punctuation.

Quantitative aptitude: Tests ability to solve mathematic problems (graduate level and XII standard)

Data sufficiency: Tests candidate's reasoning abilities using right strategies.

Reading comprehension: Tests candidate's ability to read and understand information and select the right answer.

Data interpretation: Tests candidate's ability to interpret data i.e. source information from the graph or chart that is provided and then arrive at the right answer.

TANCET exam centers

The test will be held at Chennai, Coimbatore, Chidambaram, Dindigul, Erode, Karaikudi, Madurai, Nagercoil, Salem, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Trichy, Vellore, Villupuram, Virudhunagar.

TANCET exam results

Results can be checked online around the third week of June. Candidates who have cleared the written examination will be asked to appear for a personal interview. The combined score will be considered for admission.

B-schools that accept TANCET score

Based on the combined score, aspiring students will gain admission into University colleges of Anna University (Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Tirunelveli), Government and Government aided engineering colleges and arts and science colleges and self-financing colleges (engineering, arts and science) in Tamilnadu. There is a separate list of schools which is released by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamilnadu wherein the scores of TANCET is accepted.

Certain private colleges consider TANCET score. 50% of available seats are specifically allotted for admission based on TANCET score.
