XAT or XLRI Admission Test is rated as among the most challenging national level competitive MBA entrance test in India. Cracking XAT paves the way for admission to premier B schools primarily XLRI, Jamshedpur and alternatively 100 other affiliated management colleges in India. Here is information on XAT eligibility, test format and list of colleges across India that considers XAT score for MBA admission. Registering for XAT exam XAT exam pattern Verbal ability and logical reasoning : This may include reading comprehension, critical reasoning, inductive reasoning, jumbled paragraph, English usage that tests grammar and vocabulary, picking the odd one out etc. Data Interpretation and quantitative ability : Being conversant with basics in maths syllabus from standard IV to XII is highly advantageous. Areas tested in quantitative ability include numbers, geometry and algebra. Data interpretation typically involves interpreting data from the bar graphs and line graphs. Analytical reasoning and decision making: Caselets are provided and candidates would be required to scrutinize and arrive at the best possible answer within the stipulated time. XAT Essay writing: Being well tuned with current affairs helps. Essay writing tests writing skills and ability to substantiate views with facts and figures. It's also considered to be a pre-interview yardstick. The duration for essay writing is twenty minutes. A page long essay of approximately 250-300 words should be written. Topics may range from national to international affairs, economy or business issues, political issues, those with social relevance, propositions to abstract. XAT results The results are declared usually on 31st of January. Candidates can check results online. II phase of XAT Based on written test performance, candidates are short listed for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The affiliated colleges may follow the same II phase of admission procedure or can have additional requirements as deemed necessary for the specific management programme.
